Fishburne Military School names Tennessee teen as highest ranking cadet

Fishburne Military School Cadet Joseph Presley Thomas JonesFishburne Military School Cadet Joseph Presley Thomas Jones, of South Fulton, Tenn., has been named Battalion Commander of the FMS Corps of Cadets.

FMS formally announced the Cadet Leadership for the 2018-2019 school year at its annual First Formation ceremony today.

Jones, the son of Stanley Jones II and Jeanie Jones, hopes to enroll in the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) upon graduation from Fishburne Military School.

Jones’ FMS resume includes serving as Commander of FMS JROTC Raiders team, a member of the FMS Honor Council and as a valued member of the FMS Varsity Swim Team.

The Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets is an Army JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction within the United States Army Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade. The Battalion Commander (BC) is the highest ranking Cadet within the Corps and has a variety of obligations and responsibilities such as supervising the Battalion’s four company commanders, maintaining accountability of all cadets, and leading the corps in day-to-day activities.

Fishburne Military School’s Superintendent, CAPTAIN Mark E. Black, US Navy (Ret.), noted: “Cadet Jones has demonstrated a willingness to learn and eagerness to grow throughout his cadetship. He has earned the respect of his peers and his instructors through his dedication to improving himself, his school and the Corps of Cadets. I have complete confidence that Cadet Jones, his officers and his staff will help to make this year one of the finest in Fishburne Military School’s 140-year-long history. On behalf of the faculty, staff and Board of Trustess of Fishburne Military School, I offer our sincerest congratulations and best wishes to Cadet Jones and his family.”
