First Night Harrisonburg buttons on sale


first night harrisonburgFirst Night Harrisonburg buttons are on sale now at venues throughout the community. First Night will take place in downtown Harrisonburg on New Year’s Eve from 6:00 pm to midnight. This holiday event will include entertainment and festivities for the whole family.

Admission to all First Night venues, performances, and activities in downtown Harrisonburg requires the purchase of a First Night button.

Presale buttons are $6.00 each and can be purchased at the following locations:

  • Daily News-Record
  • Massanutten Resort General Store
  • Rocktown Gift Shoppe in the Hardesty-Higgins House
  • Massanutten Regional Library
  • Downtown Books
  • Friendly City Food Co-op
  • Glenn’s Fair Price Store
  • Red Front Supermarket
  • Oasis
  • Mr. J’s (All three locations)

Buttons will also be available for $8.00 each starting at 5:00 pm on the night of the event. They will be available at the First Night Headquarters in the offices of the Harrisonburg School Board in downtown Harrisonburg. Children ages five and under are admitted free. All button sales are final, and all attendees must wear their button on the outside of their clothing so that volunteers may provide them quick access to venues.

With children’s and teen’s activities, music performances, a grand finale fireworks show, and much more, there’s sure to be something for everyone to celebrate. The evening will begin with opening ceremonies on Court Square at 6:00 pm. A variety of performances and activities will then take place at locations throughout downtown:

  • First Presbyterian Church’s Showker Hall & Sanctuary
  • JMU Planetarium
  • St. Stephens United Church of Christ
  • Dancing With Karen
  • Muhlenberg Lutheran Church & Activities Center
  • Dance and Company
  • Explore More Discovery Museum
  • Massanutten Regional Library
  • Asbury Methodist Church’s Sanctuary
