First day of spring? Winter Weather Advisory

winter weather snow icy roadsSpring will have sprung Tuesday, but Old Man Winter isn’t going away quietly. The National Weather Service has the Central Shenandoah Valley under a Winter Weather Advisory Tuesday night into Wednesday, with a forecast of 5+ inches of snow possible.

It would be the biggest snow event of the winter of 2018 in the Waynesboro-Augusta County area, if it were winter.

The weather is likely to start as rain, then become freezing rain during the day on Tuesday, leaving a coating of ice of up to an inch, before turning to snow late Tuesday.

Precipitation is possible throughout the day on Wednesday.
