Film screening: ‘A Place at the Table’

film2WHAT“A Place at the Table” Film Screening & Discussion

ABOUT THE FILM: 50 million people in the U.S. – one in four children – don’t know where they will get their next meal. Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine this issue through the lens of three people who are struggling with food insecurity. A Place at the Table shows us how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for our nation, and that it could be solved once and for all, if the American public decides – as they have in the past – that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all.

WHEN:7-9 p.m., Thursday May 30

WHERE: Visulite Cinema, 12 N. Augusta St., Staunton

TICKETS: Free admission. A freewill offering will be collected for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

DISCUSSION: After the film, KEN BROWN, REGIONAL ORGANIZER AT BREAD FOR THE WORLD, will lead a discussion about the film and encourage everyone to take action in the fight against hunger. For more info, call 213-8405. To learn more about the film, visit http://www.magpictures.com/aplaceatthetable/.
