The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee thinks Tom Perriello has a chance to turn a red seat blue.

“I’m thrilled that the DCCC and Democratic leadership are realizing what the voters of Southside Virginia have been saying since we began this race,” Perriello said of the DCCC designation of his Fifth District campaign as being an “emerging race.”

Perriello is challenging Republican incumbent Virgil Goode in the Nov. 4 election in the Fifth.

The Albemarle County native has drawn attention to the Fifth District race by outraising Goode in three consecutive fiscal quarters now.

“This campaign is about serving the good people of the Fifth District,” Perriello said. “I will work a double shift every day in Congress to bring back jobs and economic fairness.”
