A Waynesboro resident is dead after a single-vehicle crash early Wednesday on South Eastside Highway in Rockingham County.

Adonis W. Boykin, 26, died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

The fatal crash occurred at 6:45 a.m. near the intersection with Treeland Lane in Elkton.

According to VSP, Boykin’s Subaru Forester was travelling northbound on South Eastside Highway when the vehicle ran off of the right side of the road, went down an embankment, overturned and struck a tree.

Boykin was wearing a seatbelt.

Fatigue is being looked at as a possible cause. The crash remains under investigation.
