Family establishes scholarship to honor daughter’s memory

Chris Graham

Her tragic death moved the community. Now her parents want her life to impact students who like her dream of excelling in the arts.
Jim and Kelly Hyson have established the Lindsay Ree Hyson Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. The first scholarship will be awarded this year to a 2009 graduating Waynesboro High School senior.

Hyson, 14, was a freshman at WHS. She died in a Dec. 11 accident the day before she was to dance a lead part in the Old Dominion Performing Arts Studio production of The Nutcracker.

The Hysons created the scholarship fund with money that they had saved for Lindsay’s college education.

The Community Foundation welcomes tax-deductible contributions to the fund for all who would like to donate money in memory of Lindsay Hyson.

More information is available on the web at www.communityfoundationcbr.org.

You can also send a contribution via The Community Foundation at P.O. Box 815, Staunton, Va. 24402.
