Dinwiddie County: Police on the hunt for driver who struck, killed 75-year-old pedestrian

Police are looking for a suspect after a 75-year-old man was killed Friday night after being struck by an unknown vehicle in Dinwiddie County.

Linwood Earl Williams, of Snow Hill, N.C., had exited his vehicle that was stopped in the turn lane leading into an Aldi distribution center.

While speaking with the driver of a tractor trailer stopped behind him, Williams was struck by a driver traveling northbound on Route 1.

According to VSP, Williams was standing in the northbound travel lane when he was struck. He was transported to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, where he later died.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, and no vehicle description is available at this time.

Alcohol involvement is under investigation.

Virginia State Police is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information related to the suspect vehicle to contact VSP at #77 on a cellphone or (804) 750- 8758.

This investigation remains ongoing.
