Developing – Saxman to drop out?

Chris Graham

The Daily News-Record is reporting this morning that 20th District Republican State Del. Chris Saxman is expected to announce today he will step down from his seat in the House of Delegates and will not stand for re-election.
DNR reporter Jeff Mellott reported that he reached Saxman by phone Thursday evening and got confirmation from Saxman that he is withdrawing from the 20th District race. Mellott reported that Saxman is stepping back from elected politics to follow other pursuits and that he plans to continue to be active in Virginia politics.

This leaves Democratic Party nominee Erik Curren alone in the 20th District race, though Republicans would be expected to name a replacement for Saxman to run in the Nov. 3 election.

Saxman will have a press availability at noon at his home in Staunton.
