Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Thursday the date and game times for the Inaugural Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic. The 2012 Classic will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Richmond Coliseum. The Classic will feature a men’s basketball doubleheader with the Spiders of the University of Richmond taking on the Patriots of George Mason University at 3 p.m. and the University of Virginia Cavaliers matching up with the Old Dominion University Monarchs at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets for the doubleheader are on sale now through the box offices of the participating universities, or, beginning on November 30th, through the Richmond Coliseum and Ticketmaster. Information about how to purchase a ticket to both games can be found below. In addition, the governor announced a food drive competition between the competing universities that will be held in conjunction with the Classic.

“Virginia is home to some of the best college athletics in the country. This doubleheader is an opportunity to get Virginia schools together on the hardwood, while also raising food and funds off the court for our fellow citizens. It’s a wonderful cause, featuring some great basketball,” McDonnell said.
