Dead body discovered in Staunton: Foul play not suspected

policecar3Virginia State Police are investigating the discovery of a deceased female near a retail establishment in the 1000 block of Richmond Avenue in the City of Staunton.

Virginia State Police Trooper J.S. Martin had been approached by a concerned resident of Valley View Senior Apartments about a neighbor who hadn’t been seen since Monday (Oct. 26) afternoon. Based on the information provided by the resident, Trooper Martin began searching the immediate area in the 1000 block of Richmond Avenue and found a deceased female fitting the description of the missing neighbor.

The deceased female has been identified as Elizabeth M. White, 57, of Staunton, Va. Her remains are being transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for examination.

At this stage of the investigation, foul play is not suspected in her death. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
