Daytime closures on Route 789 in Rockbridge County May 7-11

vdot road workPart of Route 789 (Country Club Road) in Rockbridge County is scheduled to be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, May 7-11. This daily closure is between Route 251 (Thornhill Rd/Collierstown Road) and Route 1030 (New Cameron Drive) in the Lexington area. It allows Virginia Department of Transportation crews to install drainage pipes and make improvements to ditches and shoulders. All work is weather permitting.

During the work hours, motorists will be directed on a roughly 4.5-mile detour as follows:

  • Drivers approaching from the south will go west on Route 251, north on Route 674 (Union Run), and then east on Route 687 (Ross Road) and Wood Edge Drive to the end of the detour.
  • Drivers approaching from the north will go west on Woods Edge Drive and Route 687, south on Route 674 and then east on Route 251 to the end of the detour.
