Pittsylvania County: Dan River High student brings gun to school, taken into custody

A 16-year-old student may face charges after bringing a gun to Dan River High School in Pittsylvania County.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the school’s administration received information about a possible firearm on school property Wednesday.

The school and law enforcement swiftly located the firearm, and the juvenile was taken into custody.

School resource officers and detectives continue to investigate the incident.

The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is in contact with Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Haskins about potential charges.
