Cumberland County: 52-year-old man dead after truck veers off road, strikes fence

A single-vehicle accident in Cumberland County on March 14 killed a 52-year-old Virginia man.

Dennis W. Rice, 52, of Cartersville, died at the scene.

According to Virginia State Police, the fatal single vehicle crash occurred on Friday at 6 p.m. on Cartersville Road near the intersection with Clinton Road.

Rice was heading northbound when his truck went off of the left side of the road and struck a fence.  The vehicle then came to rest in a field.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
