One person is dead following a high-speed crash Tuesday morning on Route 60 in Cumberland County.

Edilmar H. Alvarez Sunun, 19, of North Chesterfield, died at the scene.

A Ford Fiesta was travelling westbound on Anderson Highway just after 8 a.m., near the intersection with Blenheim Road, when it went off the right side of the road. The vehicle then struck a tree, spun and caught fire.

Police believe speed was a factor in the fatal single-vehicle crash.

The accident remains under investigation, according to Virginia State Police.
