Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: April 13-17

vdot logoThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Lane restrictions may be in place on the Route 250 Bypass west between the Route 29 (Emmet Street) overpass and the Barracks Road exit between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There may be lane closures on Emmet Street between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. while work is being done in the median. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Towncenter Drive – Northbound left turn lane closed overnight Sunday, April 12 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and southbound left turn lane closed overnight Monday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • At Polo Grounds Road – Intermittent lane closures overnight Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Timberwood Road at Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent eastbound lane closures overnight Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Intermittent westbound lane closures overnight Wednesday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

Albemarle County

(NEW) Route 29/250 interchange at Ivy Road – Bridge inspection work. The ramp from southbound Route 29/250 to Route 250 Business east will be closed beginning Tuesday night. Eastbound traffic will be detoured via Route 29 south to the Fontaine Avenue interchange, where motorists can return north on Route 29 toward Route 250. Intermittent lane closures may occur on Route 250 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Friday. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

(UPDATE) Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 20, 640, 665, 677, 679, 722, 743, 1554, 1595 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 250, 844, 1390, 1392, 1408, 1444 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 682, 683, 688, 689, 736, 745, 829 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Town of Culpeper

(UPDATE) Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 603, 621, 627, 640, 642, 645, 657, 666, 669, 679, 685, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 613, 626, 628, 635, 640, 646, 693, 710, 713, 714 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 616 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route 28 (Catlett Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road will be reduced to one lane just north of Route 616 (Bristersburg Road) on Monday between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists can expect minor delays.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

  • Routes 28, 638, 643, 657, 688, 731, 798 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 55 west, 628, 631, 632, 658, 660, 661, 663, 688, 691, 695, 713, 720, 721 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes F-273, 628, 629, 672, 682, 683, 681, 688, 702, 704, 731, 737, 739, 780, 816 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 688, 798 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 732 – Debris removal.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Route 15 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 611, 619 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

  • Routes 640, 810, 1020 – Pavement patching.

 

Louisa County

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 605 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 651, 693, 773 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Routes 230 west, 616, 624, 627 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 604, 670, 749 – Debris removal.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 231 (Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation at the Blue Run Baptist Church entrance. Northbound lane closed Monday and Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 20, 522, 231, 601, 617 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 609, 618, 629, 643, 660, 665, 690, 700 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 626, 628, 636, 666, 673, 700 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

(UPDATE) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(UPDATE) Route 629 (Bean Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 615, 616, 617, 622, 626, 627, 650 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 630, 637, 639, 643, 645, 647, 669 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 660 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
