The global technology outage caused by an update from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike is affecting some local businesses, and not others.

The outage is under close monitoring by Augusta Health, where patient care has not been impacted and the Fishersville-based hospital system remains operational.

“Today, a major worldwide software outage has affected many, but Augusta Health has been fortunate with minor interruptions,” Leigh Williams, Augusta Health Assistant Chief Information Officer, said. “Augusta Health can access all clinical systems, including patient health records and scheduling.”

Augusta Health will continue to share updates on any changes in operations.

Columbia Gas of Virginia, however, is experiencing technical issues with its website and mobile app today because of the outage.

The natural gas provider emailed customers Friday afternoon and shared that if assistance is needed, they should call 1-800-543-8911, Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET. Customers may call Columbia’s 24/7 emergency line at 1-800-544-5606.

Also in cases of emergencies, customers unable to call Columbia are encouraged to dial 911.
