A Crimora man was arrested Thursday after attacking a woman driving him on East Side Highway.
Vadim Bondaruk, 26, faces domestic assault and abduction charges in connection with the incident, which was reported at 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
According to a report from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office, Bondaruk and a 23-year-old female were in the victim’s car when the two started arguing. As the victim drove, Bondaruk started hitting and choking her, causing her to run the vehicle off the road.
She attempted to flee and call 911, but Bondaruk blocked her efforts to escape and took her phone.
He drove the car from the scene with the woman in the passenger seat, and returned the phone to the victim so that she could call a family member. She instead called 911, and Bondaruk, realizing this, attempted to flee the scene on foot.
He was later taken into custody and processed at Middle River Regional Jail.
