Coyner Springs Kite Fly

Kite Day -- Para RaceSaturday, September 28
10:00am – 3:00pm

Bring the whole family and join Waynesboro Parks & Recreation and Fly n’ High Flags & Kites for a day of fun at Coyner Springs Park. Come watch 100 foot kites take to the sky while enjoying free kite making, parachute races, face painting and old fashion hay rides.

In addition, there will be a giant American Flag Ceremony at noon for everyone to participate in. New this year the 4H club ‘4 the Love of Horses’ will be offering horseback rides as a fundraiser and the local disc golf club will be on hand for people to find out more about the sport and try it out for themselves before the new course is finished out at the park.

So bring your lawn chairs and plan on spending the day! Food and drinks will be available for purchase. For more information, contact 540-942-6735, [email protected] or visit www.waynesboro.va.us/pr-kiteday.php.

This will be our 8th annual Coyner Springs Kite Fly. Last year we had over 1,300 spectators throughout the day. The event fits into a unique niche and once you see the majestic, colorful nature of 100 ft. kites in the air you cannot deny the awe inspiring grace of kites.

It has a multigenerational appeal and the ability to bring together families and community members, from the very young to the young at heart. It is also unique because it is the only festival we hold in Coyner Springs Park throughout the year and it provides a perfect setting for the event with rolling hills and picturesque views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background.
