As part of its mission to enrich the quality of life in our community, the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge has announced the opening of its 2019 Community Grants Program.
Nonprofit organizations serving the needs of Staunton and Waynesboro, and the counties of Augusta, Highland, and Nelson may apply for support from this program by February 11, 2019. They may access the online application through the Foundation’s website at www.cfcbr.org.
Through the grant application, the Foundation seeks to gain a better understanding of the needs in the community, the barriers to services, and the strengths of each nonprofit to address these needs and overcome obstacles.
The Community Grants Program is one of many ways in which the Foundation continues to connect people who care to causes that matter. Thanks to many generous and thoughtful donors who have created long-term charitable funds, the Foundation will distribute approximately $350,000 or more between the nonprofit organizations selected by a committee of community members.
With over $25 million in assets, the Foundation has thus far distributed over $10 million since their founding in 1992. By December 31, they will have distributed grants, scholarships, and awards this year in excess of $1 million, of which they presented $356,000 through their Community Grants Program earlier this year. Those grants supported a wide range of charitable activities, including the arts, health and human services, education, and much more.
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for a grant, or college-bound high school students and adult learners seeking scholarship aid, should begin by reviewing the Foundation’s various grant and scholarship programs and their deadlines on the Foundation’s website at www.cfcbr.org. This includes not only the Community Grants Program, but also the grants made available through the Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Council, which has an application deadline of January 10, 2019.
