Clabough to be featured at EMU event

Casey Clabough, author of memoir The Warrior’s Path: Reflections Along an Ancient Route, a book about his travels through the Shenandoah Valley, will be the speaker at the opening event of the 2012-13 “Writers Read Dinner and Author” series on Thursday, Sept. 20.

Clabough will read from his works following dinner at 5:30 p.m., in room 105 of the Campus Center at Eastern Mennonite University. Several of the author’s books will be available for purchase. A book signing and short question-and-answer session with the author will follow the dinner.n addition to The Warrior’s Path, Clabough is the author of the novel Confederado and five scholarly books on Southern writers, including Inhabiting Contemporary Southern & Appalachian Literature: Region & Place in the 21st Century.

In a review of The Warrior’s Path, George Garrett gives the book high praise: “The writing is at once eloquent, elegant and evocative. In short, it is a beautifully written work – a genuine pleasure to read and to re-read.”

Clabough is editor of the literature section of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities’ Encyclopedia Virginia and general editor of the James Dickey Review, a literary journal. He lives on a farm in Appomattox County, Virginia, and is an associate professor of English at Lynchburg College.
