The Foothills Child Advocacy Center has a new home – and it is opening it up to residents of Charlottesville and Albemarle County to see for themselves.
The open house at the center’s new 308 10th St. NE, Suite 1, location will be held from 5-8 p.m.
Foothills provides a central location for abused and victimized children from Charlottesville and Albemarle to receive a single forensic interview using a joint investigative approach to allow information to flow seamlessly to agencies that need it.
The center had been run as a pilot project of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Commission on Children and Families in the Albemarle County office complex on Fifth Street Extended.
“We are very pleased to be able to celebrate the opening of our new physical location and the establishment of the Foothills Child Advocacy Center as a private, child-friendly setting that provides a safe space for child victims of abuse and assault,” said center director Sara Dansey.
“We look forward to serving the needs of child abuse victims in a way that accommodates their special needs and lessens their traumatization,” Dansey said.
