augusta-health-foundation-headerCheri Moran, senior vice president and private bank advisor at StellarOne in Staunton, has been named the first Chair of the Augusta Health Foundation Board.  The Augusta Health Foundation will develop a philanthropy program that works to enhance the quality of care and services provided by Augusta Health.

Moran has been active in community philanthropy for many years and has previously served on the Blue Ridge Community College Foundation Board, the Historic Staunton Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library Foundation and the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge and the Augusta Health Board.  A graduate of Radford College and Syracuse University, she has been honored with the Chamber of Commerce Athena Award for excellence in business and community service, the International Kiwanis Hixson Award for club community services from the Shenandoah Valley Kiwanis Club and the Bank of America National Spirit of Excellence Award.

“I’m excited to begin the work of the Augusta Health Foundation,” said Moran.  “The Foundation, like Augusta Health itself, is a nonprofit, community-focused organization which will operate with a volunteer board of local citizens who live and work right here.  There are Augusta Health services and programs that are already supported with private philanthropy, such as cancer care for those who cannot afford treatment, heart disease, and nursing education—we are excited to increase support for these vital programs.”

“The upcoming years will be particularly difficult given healthcare reform and the changes that will ensue. With the continued decrease in reimbursements, increases in charity care to those who cannot afford care, and the cost of technology and equipment, the Augusta Health board of directors has been proactive to establish a fundraising program as a source of future of revenue,” she added.

Tami Radecke, CFRE, Vice President of Fund Development for the Augusta Health Foundation, also added, “I’d like people to know that when they choose to support the hospital, they actually help the future growth of Augusta Health, its patient care and outreach.” The Foundation will be recruiting additional community leaders, health advocates and physicians to serve with Cheri Moran as volunteers for the Foundation.  For information on the Foundation or its purpose, please contact Radecke at 540.332.4858 or [email protected].
