New Dominion Bookshop in Charlottesville will host an open mic in conjunction with Flux Spoken Word and Poetry on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but performance slots will only be available to Flux members. Members include University of Virginia students and employees.

The event is recommended for an adult audience, as some readings may contain mature content.

Flux exists to promote self-expression and creativity of its members through the exploration of written and performed poetry.

The goal of Flux is to create a community where writers feel comfortable experimenting with words and presenting what they’ve written to their peers.

New Dominion Bookshop is located at 404 E Main St. on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.
