Charlottesville: Man wanted for shooting a vehicle with adult, 3-year-old child

The Charlottesville Police Department has released a photo of a male suspect in a shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

The shots fired incident happened at 4:39 p.m. in the 800 block of Hardy Drive where a man reportedly fired two shots at a vehicle occupied by an adult driver and a 3-year-old child.

The victims were not on scene when police officers arrived. However, detectives made contact with them a short time later and confirmed neither the adult or child were injured in the incident.

Security video showed a man believed to be involved in the shooting.

Police do not believe this was a random act of violence. The investigation indicates the suspect and victim were acquainted.

This remains an active investigation.
