Charlottesville man arrested Monday for alleged sexual assault in June

A Charlottesville man has been arrested and charged with rape for a sexual assault reported in June.

On Monday, the Albemarle County Police Department arrested and charged John G. Bencid, 25, for an alleged sexual assault.

ACPD began an investigation following the report from the victim on Thursday, June 6.

Bencid has been charged with with two felonies:

  • 18.2-61 Rape
  • 18.2-67.1 Object Sexual Penetration

Bencid is being held without bond at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
