Charlottesville: Artisans Studio Tour features 50 artists, 25 different studios

The annual Artisans Studio Tour returns this weekend on Nov. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Fifty artisans will be featured in 25 different studios in and around Charlottesville.

New artisans to the tour include Jane Angelheart, Ninni Baeckstrom, Cindy Liebel, Abigail Treece and Laura Vik.

Tour artisans will be offering live demonstrations all weekend.

Live demonstrations

Studio #1

  • Krissy Maier will show how to set rivets | on demand, Sat. & Sun.
  • Christina Boy will demonstrate weaving a seat for a bench | Sat. & Sun., upon request

Studio #2

  • Phineas Rose Studios: Richard and Alec Gordon will demonstrate furniture making techniques / on demand, Sat. & Sun.
  • Ninika Gordon will demonstrate Viking Knitting when time allows | throughout Sat. & Sun.

Studio #3

  • Holly Horan will demonstrate slip trailing and other pottery techniques | throughout Sat. & Sun.
  • John Pluta will make funny faces, (sculpt funny faces, that is) | throughout Sat. & Sun.

Studio #5

  • Katie Maloney will demonstrate sculpting and carving in clay | Sat. 1–3 p.m.
  • Shari Jacobs will demonstrate clay printing and altering on the pottery wheel | Sun. 1–3 p.m.

  • Blaise Gaston will give tool tours and demos | Sat. & Sun., upon request

  • Abigail Treece will demonstrate wool tufting | throughout Sat. & Sun.

  • Fred Hean will demonstrate woodworking skills | throughout Sat. & Sun.
  • Judith Ligon will demonstrate her work in polymer clay | throughout Sat. & Sun.

  • Laura Vik will demonstrate “stitching” with clay | throughout Sat. & Sun.

Studio #12

  • City Clay will have clay sculpture visitors can work on | throughout Sat. & Sun.
  • City Clay will have a demo of how to build a clay head | Sat. 11 a.m. to noon

  • Gabriel Ofiesh will be demonstrating making hand forged necklaces | throughout Sat. & Sun.

  • Malleable Studios’ jewelers will be demonstrating jewelry-making techniques | throughout Sat. & Sun.

  • Cherie Mehler will have interactive glass demos | throughout Sat. & Sun.

Studio #25

  • Sarah Tremaine will demonstrate fiber arts techniques | throughout Sat. & Sun.
  • Cathy Vaughn will demonstrate copper patina techniques | throughout Sat. & Sun.
