A 21-year-old man is dead and two teens were seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash involving a tractor trailer on Interstate 95 in Caroline County Sunday night.

Zane P. Jackson was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to Virginia State Police. Two teenage passengers in the same vehicle also received serious injuries.

The first crash occurred on Oct. 5 at 8:30 p.m. on I-95 southbound at the 110 mile marker. The accident involved drivers in a Chevrolet sedan and a Ford sedan.

After the initial collision involving the two sedans, a tractor trailer struck the Chevrolet in the rear after the driver was unable to avoid the vehicles in the road. Jackson was the driver of the Chevrolet.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.
