Staunton Performing Arts Center presents special kids’ show

The Staunton Performing Arts Center will present Calling All Kids: Music and Magic at the Dixie on Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m.

This special show for children will be two shows for the price of one, presenting music and stories by Bill Wellington in one theatre and magic by Brian Bence in the other.  After an intermission, the audiences will change theatres and see the other show. 

Bill Wellington is a champion folk musician, gifted songwriter, and a great storyteller.  His light-hearted shows combine songs, tales, and tunes with hilarious bits of physical comedy guaranteed to delight the old and the young.  Bill is the creator of Radio WOOF, a unique series of audio recordings for Children.  Bill Wellington has performed at The Smithsonian, the National Theatre, the Richmond Children’s Museum, The International Children’s Festival and at over 1,000 schools all across America

. 

Brian Bence has been performing magic for over 20 years in the Shenandoah Valley and beyond.  Utilizing illusion, sleight of hand, and comedy Brian has delighted children and adults of all ages in many different venues.

Whether performing close-up magic that happens right in the spectator’s hands or performing a stage show for several hundred spectators, “The Magic of Brian Bence” always leaves those in attendance with a sense of wonder and amazement that many have forgotten since childhood.

Tickets are $10 per child, $18 for 2 children, $24 for 3, $28 for 4, and $30 for 5 children.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Adults are admitted free when accompanied by children.  For tickets, call the Staunton Performing Arts Center office at 540-885-3211.  Major credit cards are accepted.

This show is made possible by a generous gift from Dominion Power. In addition, members of the Staunton Performing Arts Center Board of Directors personally donated $775 to provide tickets to over 75 local children who would not otherwise be able to attend.

The Staunton Performing Arts Center is a non-profit organization with the goal of creating a performance center with a theatre of 600 seats for all kinds of live arts at the current Dixie Theatre and the adjacent Arcadia Building.
