The third annual Cave Comedy Fest returns on Saturday, July 27, at Melrose Caverns in Harrisonburg. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Funny Womacks & Friends, formerly X2 Comedy, invite the community to come out early to Tailgate & Play before the show. There will be axe throwing, gem mining, cornhole and a scavenger hunt.

The food and beverage garden will include Ott Street Eats, Brix & Columns Vineyards, Restless Moons Brewing, The Friendly Fermenter, Pure Shenandoah and more.

Music will play throughout festival grounds with live music performances from Kelly May Greene and Crystal Armentrout.

The cave tours feature more than 150 signatures of Civil War soldiers etched on the walls.

The comedy in the cave comes with a short cave tour and show featuring a husband-and-wife duo set (The Funny Womacks) and Los Angeles-based headliner Lachlan Patterson.

“Lachlan was our first headliner in the cave our inaugural year, and we are thrilled to bring him back to the Valley,” said Dawn Davis Womack, comedian, show producer and host of the Virginia is For Laughers podcast.

Patterson appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and has been doing comedy for 25 years, most recently touring with Nate Bargatze. He’s been on FOX’s “Punchline”; Comedy Central’s “Tosh.O”; and is a recurring special guest on FX’s “LEGIT.”

“We are so excited about offering this event to the community and invite all ages to Tailgate & Play,” said Jack Yancey, manager and owner of Melrose Caverns.

Advance tickets are recommended. Seating to the comedy shows is limited.

Melrose Civil War Caverns are located at 6639 North Valley Pike in Harrisonburg.
