Carroll County | Fatigue likely caused fatal crash on Elk Horn Road

A 52-year-old woman is dead from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in Carroll County.

Deanna M. Simone, of Woodlawn, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

The crash occurred at 7:10 a.m. in the 4400 block of Elk Horn Road, according to a report from Virginia State Police.

Simone was travelling southbound in a Chevrolet Trailblazer when she went off of the right side of the road and struck a bridge railing.

Fatigue is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
