CAPSAW announces local grant awards

Contributors

newspaperCAPSAW’s Board of Directors announced over $340,000 in funding designated to impact the economic health of the region.

Sixteen agencies were notified of their FY 2017 grant awards this week.  Selected agencies are expected to serve over 3,500 individuals and report on outcomes impacting CAPSAW’s Strategic Objectives.

CAPSAW funded programs will contribute to a financial security framework for our community as well as enhance existing efforts or develop services to address unmet needs.  Partner programs will specifically address barriers to economic health pertaining too: educational attainment, increased earnings and access to benefits, savings opportunities and asset development, career improvement and mental health services.

The Board also approved an additional grant opportunity for which local human service agencies are encouraged to apply. The Community Support Application is open to all non-profit 501 C  (3) agencies addressing CAPSAW’s strategic objectives in the Greater Augusta region.

Decisions will be made by the CAPSAW Board in order of submission. Awards are expected to range from $250 – $2,000 and should be used to purchase “things” that are typically not allowable through CAPSAW’s traditional grants processes.

Training on this new, simplified application will be held at the Staunton/Augusta YMCA on Monday, May 2 at 11am.

Information can be found on CAPSAW’s website at waynesboro.va.us/346/CAPSAW.
