Building Goodness Foundation Local Build Days

AFP

Building Goodness FoundationJoin Building Goodness Foundation’s Local Program for a multi-site volunteer build day on Dec. 1 and 8. Come out to change lives and make a difference in our local community.

When: Saturday, Dec 1 and 8, 8 am – 4 pm
Where: several Charlottesville nonprofit work sites
Skills needed: carpenters, electricians, drywall finishers, and plumbers

To volunteer, contact Lauren McRaven at 434-973-0993 or [email protected].

BGF will be working at three partner nonprofit work sites:

  • All Blessings Flow collects, refurbishes, and distributes medical equipment for anyone in need. BGF’s volunteers will be upfitting a second warehouse space for this nonprofit so they can add pediatric equipment, an office, a support group meeting room, and new stations for intake, cleaning, and repair.
  • Foothills Child Advocacy Center provides a child-friendly, safe, and neutral location for child victims during investigations by Child Protective Services and law enforcement. BGF is partnering with UVA Facilities Management to renovate the forensic interview room in order to make it more soundproof and comfortable.
  • Pilgrim Baptist Church in Charlottesville’s 10th & Page neighborhood hosts community programs including summer lunch programs for kids, music education outreach, a food pantry, health education with community walks and exercise classes, and health worker education in partnership with the VA Dept of Health. BGF’s volunteers will be finishing renovations that will allow Pilgrim Baptist to start an afterschool program next semester.

BGF’s Local Program has built, renovated, and repaired buildings for 50 local partners and 120 homes in Central Virginia since 2007. BGF chooses local projects which boost health, support education, reduce inequalities, and improve lives in our community. The BGF Local Program impacts almost 8,500 local residents per year.
