An 86-year-old Buena Vista man is dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 64 in Alleghany County early Tuesday morning.

Edmond Thomas Floyd was not wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash is under investigation.

State Police report the crash occurred Jan. 21 at 12:53 a.m. two miles west of Dabney Drive.

Floyd’s 2025 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling east in the westbound travel lanes when he struck a Kenworth tractor trailer traveling west head on.
