Buckingham woman dead after fatal pedestrian crash on July Fourth

A woman walking on Route 20 in Buckingham County was killed on July Fourth when a vehicle struck her.

The pedestrian, Angela Cook, 42, of Buckingham, died at the scene.

Virginia State Police is investigating the fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at 10:13 p.m.  The crash occurred near the intersection of Route 20 and Glenmore Road.

According to VSP, a vehicle was heading northbound on Route 20 when it was unable to avoid Cook in the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation.
