Broadway and Beyond 0pens the holiday season at WTA’s Gateway

Contributors

WTA’s Gateway ushers in the Christmas season with a dessert cabaret featuring two of the areas favorite performers.  Diane Heavner and Brian Holsopple accompanied by Don Roe will take the audience on a musical tour of the Great White Way.  The performance will run for two evenings, once on Friday, November 30 and once on Saturday, December 1 at 8 pm on the Gateway stage at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.

Broadway and Beyond was created by Diane Heavner and Brian Holsopple as a look at Love in several of its stages, incarnations, and expressions: when it is simple, silly and maybe unrecognized. Love in the “hey wait…there might be something to this stuff” stage. Love in tender and coarse moments and in its humorous and not so humorous times. Love as victorious, and revealing itself as the strongest force on the planet.

Diane Heavner and Brian Holsopple have shared the stage numerous times, including Cafe d’Musique which they performed for WTA at Fairfax Hall.  Both are veterans of the Waynesboro Players, ShenanArts, and Oak Grove.  Audience’s remember Diane’s stand-out performances as Anna in The King and I, Guinevere in Camelot and Agnes in I Do! I Do!  Besides taking roles such as Sweeny in Sweeny Todd, Che in Evita, and Frederick in A Little Night Music, Brian created the role of Woodrow Wilson in the musical Woody which will return to the stage in 2013.  Brian is also an award winning reader of audio books and runs his own “voice-over” business.

Don Roe will accompany the duo.  His resume includes active involvement with every local theatre company.  He is currently an adjust faculty member of Mary Baldwin’s graduate program in teacher education.

Tickets for Broadway and Beyond are $15 in advanced and $18 at the door.  The ticket includes the performance and dessert and beverage.  Ticket can be purchased at the WTA office at 533 West Main or by calling 540-943-9999.  Remaining tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the performance.
