Repairs to a bridge over Interstate 81 in Woodstock will close southbound lanes of the interstate overnight and lead to detours on Route 604.
The Route 604 bridge, located near mile marker 285, received extensive damage from a dump truck with a raised bed that struck it in September.
Traffic impacts due to the detour and interstate shutdown are expected in northern Shenandoah, Frederick and Warren counties.
Contractors are scheduled to begin work next week, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Part of Route 604, between Summit Avenue and Route 676 (Fravel Road) will be closed through April 30. Signs will point drivers to a detour on Spring Street.
The repairs will also shut down I-81 southbound overnight in early to mid-March so crews can cut through the bridge deck and railing, remove the damaged beam and replace it.
Preliminary work will require single-lane closures on I-81 beginning in mid-February.
