Bradford Staffing goes green: Employment firm leading local solar energy push

mlm-veronaBradford Staffing has supplied employees for nearly 300 employers in the Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia. It’s now looking to supply its own power through solar.

“Bradford Staffing business cards are black and white, but the Bradford footprint is green,” said Mary Jorgensen, the owner of Bradford Staffing, based in Verona, which will see 42 solar panels installed over the course of the next week.

Altenergy Inc. in Staunton will be installing the solar panels on the front side of the Bradford Staffing office building off Lee Highway (U.S. 11) beginning Thursday.

On Friday, June 12, Bradford Staffing is hosting a community event to unveil the solar-panel system and provide an opportunity for local business leaders to learn more about the benefits of solar.

The event is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bradford Staffing, 600 Lee Highway, Verona.

“The region’s oldest staffing company is now making the leap to be the most modern,” said Thomas Jorgensen, the president of Bradford Staffing, which was founded in 1967 and employs 150 people daily and has more than 3,500 active employee candidates on file.

With the solar installation, Bradford Staffing will be home to just the third commercial solar installation in Augusta County.

The system will cost $30,000 to install, with grants and tax credits helping defray some of those up-front costs.

The project has an estimated four-year payback.

“It’s not every day when everybody wins, but in this case, Bradford Staffing again supports local companies, with local installers, and helps out the environment. Giving back to the community – economically, environmentally, and personally is and always will be paramount in Bradford Staffing’s philosophy of business,” Thomas Jorgensen said.
