BOOST Tourism Grant released by the City of Waynesboro

Contributors

waynesboroThe City of Waynesboro invests annually in tourism-oriented business endeavors, events and projects through their grant program, Building Opportunities to Support Tourism (BOOST).

City businesses and organizations are invited to apply for up to $3,000 to support eligible activities such as fairs, festivals and projects intended to entice visitation through assistance with the associated marketing, design and printing costs. Funds are accessible for new and existing tourism-related endeavors taking place within the City of Waynesboro between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016.

“The BOOST Grants enable our Tourism Department to partner with local coalitions and operators who are building unique events and other engaging activities that will appeal to the leisure traveler. There are so many amenities in place locally, and our charge is to market these attractions – from food to history, outdoor recreation to the arts – so that the widest possible audience responds with an extended stay here in Waynesboro. With Tourism revenue exceeding $33 million and supporting more than 350 jobs each year, this is a vital sector and an economic driver for the City1. The BOOST Grants allow us to leverage our existing efforts and collaborate with a wide variety of groups seeking to attract visitation, too,” said Jenny Carter, Assistant Director for Economic Development and Tourism. “It’s always a pleasure to review the innovative ideas submitted through the BOOST program and reinforce our partnerships with area organizations dedicated to marketing our city to the new and returning visitors.”

The grant application is available on the City’s Tourism website (www.visitwaynesboro.net) as well as the Economic Development site (www.waynesborobusiness.com). Completed applications are due by noon on Monday, June 22, 2015 to the Tourism Office. A committee will review the applications and make determinations for grant awards by Tuesday June 30, 2015. Full details for the requirements of the grant are included in the application, which can also be obtained from the Tourism Office at 301 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980 or by calling 540-942-6570.
