Tyler Bocock (sophomore, Stetson) and Taylor Sandefur (junior, Western Carolina) have been named the Waynesboro Generals Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week.
Bocock hit a league-leading .500 last week (10-for-20) and had a .565 on-base percentage for the week, good for third in the league. The shortstop punctuated the hot week at the plate with a 4-for-5 night in Waynesboro’s 8-2 win over Staunton on Sunday in the WSVA Waynesboro Generals Game of the Week.
Bocock is hitting .362 with a home run and a team-leading nine RBI. The .362 batting average is tied for fifth in the Valley League, and his 25 hits thus far this season is tied for third leaguewide.
Sandefur came out of the bullpen with the bases loaded and nobody out in the first inning of Wednesday’s 11-5 win over Winchester and led the pen’s efforts to silence the Royals from there. Sandefur threw five innings of two-hit baseball as part of the bullpen’s nine innings of scoreless relief in the victory.
On the season, Sandefur has a 1-1 record with a 5.10 ERA in four appearances (one start), striking out 10, walking three and allowing 11 hits in 12 and a third innings.
Earning honorable mention status for the week were:

- Brian Beard (freshman, Old Dominion) went 9-for-23 (.391) at the plate with a home run and four RBI.
- David Spinosa (sophomore, Columbia) put up five and a third scoreless innings of relief in three appearances last week. For the season, Spinosa has made six appearances, all in relief, striking out six, walking six and allowing four hits without giving up a run.
