Blue Ridge Parkway visitor from India dies after cardiac arrest on popular hiking trail

A man visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway from India has died after going into cardiac arrest while hiking on the Humpback Rocks trail.

Sharath Jois, 53, of Mysore, India, died at the scene.

The incident occurred on Monday at 3:22 p.m., according to the National Park Service.

Rangers and local first responders arrived to discover other hikers providing CPR. The life-saving efforts were not successful.
