A new specialty license plate available in Virginia for motorcycles will help make improvements to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Blue Ridge Parkway plate is available online or at Department of Motor Vehicle offices throughout Virginia.

The tag depicts a vibrant view of the scenic route and raises proceeds to complete enhancement projects through the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.

It is the only specialty plate in the Commonwealth that provides financial support for initiatives in the national park.

“We are excited that a whole new group of Parkway enthusiasts can show their support for this amazing national park,” said Kevin Brandt, Virginia development director for the nonprofit foundation. “So many people explore and enjoy the Parkway on two wheels, and now they can give back to create an even better journey.”

The specialty plate fee in Virginia is $25 and $15 goes toward key improvements needed along the Parkway.

The funding from license plate purchases will support:

  • repairs to trails, campgrounds and picnic areas.
  • wildlife studies
  • historic preservation
  • educational programs

The plate is also available for vehicles in Virginia and North Carolina.
