Billy Cosh joins VMI football coaching staff as wide receivers coach

VMI football coach Scott Wachenheim announced Monday that Billy Cosh has joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach and will handle wide receivers for the Keydets.

Cosh, who comes to the Institute after two seasons at Indiana University, officially begins his duties  June 18.

At IU, Cosh served as an offensive graduate assistant coach and handled varied duties including assisting with the passing game plan, running scout defense and special teams, and he also worked with Hoosier quarterbacks and wide receivers while also evaluating the quarterback position for recruiting.

Cosh began his coaching career at Concord University in 2015 where he served as an offensive GA and quarterbacks coach. While at Concord, Cosh helped develop the passing game and was involved with the quarterback position development and also recruited the state of Maryland.

Cosh graduated with a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Houston in 2015 and pursued his master’s  in Public Health at Indiana University.

Cosh played collegiately at Houston (2013-14), Butler Community College (2012), and Kansas State (2011.) He led Butler to the NJCCA National Championship throwing for 2,856 yards and 25 touchdowns.

A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Cosh broke the state record for single-season passing yardage (3,913), passing touchdowns (56), and completions (292) at Anne Arundel High School. He is the Maryland high school career record holder with 112 passing TDs.

Billy comes from a background of fast paced offenses and has a passion and energy for football that is contagious.”
