The Big South Conference today announced its 2014 football television schedule on the new American Sports Network (ASN). The slate features six contests — five of them between Conference members, and the six broadcasts push the League’s overall package to a Big South-record 14 this season (12 League games). In addition, the final five weeks of the 2014 regular-season will now feature two televised games each week.
ASN, an initiative launched by the Sinclair Broadcast Group, will kickoff its Big South schedule Sept. 27 when preseason favorite Coastal Carolina hosts Elon of the CAA in a non-League tilt. ASN’s first intra-Conference broadcast will be the Oct. 25 Charleston Southern at Coastal Carolina game, and concludes Nov. 22 with Gardner-Webb at Monmouth. A full list of ASN affiliates and a complete list of broadcasts will be finalized as the season draws nearer. Game times for three broadcasts — Sept. 27, Oct. 25 and Nov. 15 — were changed to accommodate ASN’s coverage.
Sinclair will distribute its football productions to its stations solely located in the Conference’s footprint of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as New Jersey. In 2015, Georgia will be added for football-only distribution. Sinclair’s broadcast stations will either carry the games and any original content as part of the primary program lineup (generally on the Company’s CW and MyNet affiliates) or as part of second channels (sub-channels of the primary station’s signal).
