The Big Event comes to Stuarts Draft

newspaperNine churches will come together at an apartment community in Stuarts Draft to stage The Big Event from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd.

In a fully- integrated, grassroots effort, the churches will gather at Montague Terrace Apartments to host an event for the community at large.  One and all are welcome.

Activities include face painting, a jump house, a water slide, a corn hole toss, basketball, sidewalk chalk art and the Stuarts Draft Fire Department will be on site with a truck for children to tour.  Refreshments will be served.

This event is part of a broader effort of community outreach. The churches have banded together as “The Connection” in order to achieve the common goal of providing hands-on assistance to those in the Stuarts Draft area. They will begin this effort at Montague Terrace Apartments through a newly conceived “Adopt a Property” program.  Through this program, the Connection will provide resident services such as a food pantry, book club, fundraising initiatives, holiday celebrations, counseling and after-school programs.

This effort strives to support the residents in various ways that enrich their lives and create a stable environment. The program plans to expand to other communities at a future date.
