Berkeley Glenn students vote for new playground

Contributors

waynesboroThe playground equipment at Berkeley Glenn Elementary in Waynesboro is over 20 years old, and in the spirit of election week, students will take time during their lunch hour today and tomorrow to vote for their favorite new additions to the playground.

“We wanted this to be a fun and collaborative experience for the kids here at Berkeley Glenn”, said Principal Ms. Leola Burks. “It’s important that children understand that their voice matters, and the importance of speaking their mind.”, said PTO Treasurer Terry Short, Jr.

Votes will be tallied following tomorrow’s final day of voting, and reported back to the school. From there, the PTO in partnership with the school have launched a GoFundMe initiative to help offset the cost of the much needed repairs and replacements to the equipment. “Replacement pieces can cost nearly $15,000, and we are asking the entire community to help offset even some of these costs.”, said Burks.
