Ben Cline doesn’t have time for a town hall with his constituents, which might be a tad bit uncomfortable, against the backdrop of the damage being done by the Trump/Musk administration, but our Bennie is all-in on private, scripted events, like the one he did for PR at Augusta Health last week.
“We were honored to welcome U.S. Congressman Ben Cline to our campus last Friday!” the PR team at Augusta Health posted to Facebook about the Cline visit, which, oddly, his own social-media team apparently decided to ignore.
The Cline PR folks did take to Facebook to highlight the MAGA congressman’s tour of a mill in Vinton, and a visit to a high school to pose for a snap with a football player.
Looking at the comments from constituents on the posts, there’s a reason why we don’t see Cline putting any public events on his schedule.

- Give Ben Cline a break: He’ll get around to holding another town hall
- Staunton protestors let Ben Cline know what they think of him with signs, chants
- Ben Cline won’t hold a town hall: So, his constituents held one for him
“Shame on Ben Cline for using this young man to get ‘good publicity.’ Why are you avoiding your constituents, Ben?” Harrisonburg resident Betty Lantz Hall wrote.
“You’re sure keeping your staff busy with a bunch of dog-and-pony shows, while you refuse to meet constituents who have concerns, not desires to be slapped up on social media as props in photo-ops,” local resident Linda Allen wrote.
“What, if anything, is Ben Cline doing to help local farmers whose contracts with schools and foodbanks have been cancelled by the Trump administration? As a lawyer, can Ben Cline explain why the Trump administration thinks it’s OK to just break contracts with no cause?” Harrisonburg resident Abby Schweber wrote.
Cline not only doesn’t want to have to answer these questions, he can’t answer these questions.
As in, god love him, he’s not quick enough on his feet to be able to articulate a response.
OK, to be fair, give him all the time in the world, and still, nothing.
He doesn’t have a lot to work with, bless his heart.
Which is why his wheelhouse is scripted PR events without constituents or reporters.
Just a congressman with a sh-t-eatin’ grin and his phalanx of sycophants all trying to look like they’re doing something.
Shame, by the way, on the folks at Augusta Health for providing the backdrop for the photo-op.
Seriously, the Trump/Musk administration, aided by Ben Cline and “Let the Bird Flu Rip” RFK Jr., is doing everything it can to gut rural hospitals, and you guys are posing for selfies?
