Ben Cline completes Sixth District walking tour

Sixth District Republican congressional candidate Ben Cline completed his walking tour of the Sixth District on Thursday.

“In May I set out on foot to travel across the 6th District in order to engage with the people in an authentic and unscripted environment. Throughout the walk, I’ve met with business owners, factory workers, farmers, barbershop customers, policemen, firemen, and in general, people who are proud of and care deeply about their community. I listened and learned about the issues that are important to them and the problems facing their towns, which is what this whole tour was all about. And I hope I showed the people of this district that after walking 220 miles to hear their honest opinions about politics and life, visiting nearly two-dozen counties, cities, and towns in the process, that they know I will serve them just as doggedly in Washington, D.C. if they elect me as their Congressman.”

Cline walked this summer from Amherst County, south via Rt. 29 to Lynchburg, west via Route 460 to Bedford County, continue along Rt. 460 to Roanoke County, and Roanoke City, and then north along Rt. 11 through Botetourt County, Rockbridge, Lexington, Augusta County, Staunton, Rockingham County, Harrisonburg, Shenandoah County, and then heading west on Rt. 55 to Front Royal in Warren County.

“From the town of Amherst to Front Royal, I heard repeatedly from the people of the 6th District that they want someone who represents their tightly-knit community’s values of a less intrusive, fiscally responsible government. They want a representative who understands that one-size-fits-all solutions might work for New York, San Francisco, or even Northern Virginia, but they won’t necessarily work for the communities of the Shenandoah and Roanoke valleys or the cities and towns in foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. If elected, I’m committed to being that voice in Washington for them.”
