Bedford County: Two fatalities in crash after vehicle strikes utility pole

Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash on Stewartsville Road in Bedford County Friday night.

The driver, Angela Marie Heffinger, 53, of Moneta, and a passenger, Randy Lee Simmons, 54, both died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

Heffinger was traveling east when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole at approximately 7:21 p.m., three tenths of a mile north of Afton Meadow Road.

Both were wearing seatbelts, according to VSP.

The crash remains under investigation.
