Bedford County: Moneta man dead after two-vehicle crash on Monday

A Moneta man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Bedford County on Monday night.

Chester Lee Bates, 65, died at the scene, according to the Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred at 7:10 p.m. on White House Road, one half of a mile east of Sleepy Hollow Road.

Bates’ Chevrolet truck was traveling east when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a Lexus traveling west head on.

The driver of the Lexus has not been identified; they were transported to the hospital for injuries received in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
